The Top Most Gibson Vintage Guitars by randell wilcox
My dream has always been to play guitar and have people really enjoy hearing what I am playing. Call me an attention hog if you like but when I see people getting into the music I am playing it just feels really good. It’s like a different kind of conversation in a different way of “”talking”" When I play I am sensitive to what the people listening seem to be liking and I move in that direction.

Since playing well and being heard is important to me you imagine I am very picky about the equitment I use. I have tried fender and several other guitar makers. Some big well known guitar builders and some small obscure guitar makers. I have about a dozen different guitars, mostly electric, but a few acoustics also.
Now I have to tell you my number one guitar, it is a vintage Gibson guitar. The famous Les Paul. Of all the Gibson Vintage Guitars this is the top of the heap for me. This is an old guitar manufactured in the 1950′s. Back then the electric pickups were wound by hand. Each one made one at a time. This is just not done today so this guitar is truly a unique one of a kind.
When you get down to it its all about the tone. The sound. The vibe the player is sending. Vintage Gibson Guitars are unique; to some degree no two of them will sound exactly alike. I paid $5000.00 for my guitar and thought it was a bargain. To me it is certainly worth it. Playing guitar is the most rewarding thing in my life, other than being with my family, so to me it is justified and makes sense to spend what it takes to have the Gibson Vintage Guitar I love so well. Truth is I have been offered $7000 for this guitar but no way would I ever sell it.
Given the over 60 years of age of my guitar you can imagine it has a bump or two. I don’t mind that at all. The few scrapes and dings are part of a vintage Gibson guitar and also offer proof it is genuine. After all in 60 years any of us will have a ding or two as well.
The metal in the pickups age over time too and older guitars are known to have a fuller and richer tone. This is part of the aging of the pickup and there is no other way to really get this than to have a genuine Gibson vintage guitar.
If you like what you have been reading and would like to get yourself one of these fine instruments then you timing is great. There are many ways to track down a nice guitar with all the stuff going on on the internet. One thing I think you need to make sure of, is if you cannot go where the guitar is and play it before you buy, then make sure you can return it if you are not completely satisfied with your purchase. It’s just that different guitars have different sounds, even the same model, when it comes to vintage Gibson guitars.
Many people look at these as investments though I got mine to play every day. The genuine models will increase in value over time and have for many years. One guy I know has over 100 vintage guitars and yea I do envy him a little, what guitar player wouldn’t?
